The HP StorageWorks 8Gb Simple SAN Connection portfolio makes installing your first SAN (or your hundredth) easy by automating every aspect of setup and configuration. An entire SAN may now be deployed in minutes – including switch, HBA and storage provisioning. SAN novices and seasoned experts alike will appreciate the simplicity and power of the included Simple SAN Connection Manager software. It works seamlessly with both HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays (EVA) and HP StorageWorks Modular Storage Array (MSA) storage systems, HP 81Q and 82Q PCI-e FC HBAs and the 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch to handle common cross-platform management and maintenance tasks quickly while masking underlying complexity. The 8Gb Simple SAN Connection Kit consists of an enterprise-class eight-port 8Gb switch (upgradeable to 20 ports), four 81Q PCI-e FC HBAs, and the Windows-installable Simple SAN Connection Manager software – along with all the cables, 8Gb SFPs and easy-to-follow documentation you need to get started immediately. Each hardware component, including the switch and HBAs, may also be purchased separately.

The 8Gb Simple SAN Connection portfolio offers enterprise-class functionality and value.   • MSA2000fc support with Simple SAN Connection Manager enables wizard-based configuration and provisioning of the MSA2000fc using the same simple user interface for the MSA and EVA families of disk arrays. A single interface simplifies SAN configuration by removing the requirement to learn multiple GUI’s. The wizard makes storage provisioning as easy as 1-2-3. For more advanced tasks, now launch MSA/EVA device management applications directly from Simple SAN Connection Manager as the centralized interface.
  • Application-based MSA/EVA setup and provisioning wizard enables fast and accurate automatic configuration of your SAN for typical Microsoft Exchange deployments and a custom template allows partners and customers to create your own ‘best practices’ wizards for your applications.
  • HP BladeSystem c-Class support added through connection support for the HP 4Gb Virtual Connect Fibre Channel Module, HP 4Gb Fibre Channel Pass-Thru Module, and QLogic and Emulex 4Gb mezzanine HBAs.
  • Next generation IPv6 support added – already a requirement for government and private enterprises.
  • HP Integrity servers are now supported connecting to the HP StorageWorks 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch with 2Gb and 4Gb HBA’s.
