3COM 11G 54MBPS WIRELESS LAN INDOOR BUILDING-TO-BUILDING BRIDGE

Flexible, Cost-Effective Extended Reach
Avoid fiber cable installation expenses and problems—or costly recurring T1/E1 charges by connecting LANs over secure, high-speed wireless links. The 3Com® 11g 54Mbps Wireless LAN Indoor Building-to-Building Bridge is designed to connect LANs in large, open interiors such as warehouses, or to link adjacent buildings, by connecting to another bridge. The indoor bridge provides an intelligent, economical solution for connecting building LANs in campus-like settings when deployed with the 3Com 11g 54Mbps Wireless LAN Outdoor Building-to-Building Bridge.

The 11g 54Mbps bridge delivers five times the bandwidth of 11b links and supports up to 1,000 clients. It operates in a either point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations to meet growth and specific application demands.

WPA-PSK and AES encryption and authentication provide high levels of security using the latest industry standards. VPN and VLAN support keeps network data private and transmissions safe from security breaches. Setup-wizard software makes installation and configuration easy. Once setup is complete, the building-to-building bridge can be remotely managed using a standard Web browser or SNMP management tools.

Note that separately ordered antenna and cables are required; choose from several antenna options for maximum coverage, listed under Required Products.

  • Economically extends the reach of enterprise networks across large, open interiors or by linking adjacent buildings

  • Wireless building-to-building installations can cost as little as one-tenth that of fiber cabling installations and avoid right-of-way and trenching problems

  • The wireless 11g building-to-building bridge delivers 10 to 20 times the throughput of a T1/E1 line that can cost as much as US$1,000 per month

  • Choose from a variety of omnidirectional and panel antenna options for maximum coverage; antenna and cables need to be ordered at time of purchase

  • 54 Mbps 11g data rate delivers five times the throughput of 11b networks and easily handles large multimedia files

  • Advanced 256-bit WPA-PSK and AES encryption for 11g clients and 40/64/128-bit WEP encryption for 11b clients protect all communications over the WLAN

  • VPN and VLAN passthrough create secure tunnels for remote site-to-site or site-to-user data exchange

  • Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint topology support provides maximum flexibility in configuring building-to-building networks; point-to-multipoint configuration supports up to seven bridge connections

  • Web browser, SNMP, and 3ND support enable administrators to remotely manage the bridge from anywhere and seamlessly integrate the wireless LAN with enterprise management tools

  • Power can be supplied by the included power injector or by a compatible Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch for deployment flexibility in hard-to-wire or remote locations
