DATA ARCHIVER FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE


All organizations are under the threat of civil litigation, which can require administrators to provide historic email messages. When this happens, administrators must be able to export selected sets of messages into PST files for legal teams, who can then scrutinize and further cull messages for relevancy. Failure to meet deadlines for producing email, and incomplete responses, can damage company reputations and result in large financial penalties.

Data Archiver adds to capabilities provided in Data Migrator, to complete the solution for Exchange active-archive. Data Migrator archives messages from end-user mailboxes. Data Archiver works with the message journaling feature of Exchange to archive all incoming and outgoing messages and attachments.

Data Archiver includes full-text Content Indexing of the messages and message attachments stored in the archive, for easier search and retrieval. Data Archiver can be used on its own or in combination with Data Migrator; both can be added to CommVault Galaxy Backup & Recovery deployments for added value.

When used in combination, CommVault® products offer the capability to search and retrieve all types of data — from email to files to application data. Also, CommVault software enables search and retrieval of all data copies — including archive and backup copies. The capability to manage Exchange archive data along with Exchange backup copies is becoming more important as courts respond to changes in Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) guidelines for discovery.
