BUSINESS POLICY SWITCH


Nortel's Business Policy Switch is a stackable 24 Port 10/100 Base-T Ethernet layer 2 switch that dramatically increases any businesses' network performance and reliability because it provides advanced layer 2, 3, and 4 packet classification, prioritization and quality of service (QoS) capabilities, web-based management, fail-safe stackability, and flexible high speed uplinks.

The Business Policy Switch was designed to provide enterprise businesses with the highest level of Quality of Service (QoS), network availability, security and performance. The Business Policy Switch delivers a robust set of advanced IP classification, prioritization and traffic management features in order to guarantee network availability for mission critical applications, for example, IP telephony and video, devices and users.

Business Policy Switch had two versions - AC version and DC version. The AC version has been Manufacturing Discontinued. Nortel will continue to ship the DC version of the Business Policy Switch.

Includes the feature set of the Ethernet Switch 450 plus:

  • Traffic prioritization with eight hardware-based queues (with new Gigabit Media Dependent Adapters).
  • Policy management to enable assured delivery of applications to the desktop.
  • Web-based management to create policies and provide real-time statistics for the entire stack.
  • End-to-end Quality of Service when used with the Nortel's Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 in the core.
  • Voice over IP capabilities when used with the Nortel Business Communications Manager and Meridian voice systems.
