USED THREAT PROTECTION SYSTEM INTRUSION SENSOR

Nortel Threat Protection System (TPS) Intrusion Sensors use intrusion detection and protection technology from Sourcefire. This assists network and security managers in protecting their network from existing and emerging threats. The TPS Intrusion Sensors may be deployed off-line or passive mode using a passive tap or a 'mirrored' traffic stream from a switched firewall or application switch. The new 2100 series sensors are deployed in-line to immediately block threats For both types of deployment, security alerts are sent to the Threat Protection System Defense Center for logging and analysis.

Defense Center analyzes all security events from the sensors. When an adaptive defense is needed the Defense Center automatically updates filters and rules on Nortel Switched Firewall, Nortel Applications Switch and Cisco routers.

The new Real-time Threat Intelligence capability from Nortel provides an additional level of context and clarity to security event analysis. This intelligence enables most adaptive defense responses to take place automatically.
