USED SUN STORAGETEK DATA MIRROR SOFTWARE


Sun StorageTek Data Mirror software is designed for use with Sun StorageTek 6920 systems. This software enables organizations to make full volume, independent copies of Sun StorageTek 6920 volumes called data mirrors. A data mirror consists of a primary volume component, which is always available, and secondary components which can be separated and presented as unique volumes to connected hosts. Similar to data snapshots, users can use secondary components for operations such as backup, data recovery, data migration, application testing and development, database extracts, and data warehousing,while the primary volume continues to be available for production application processing.

Sun StorageTek Data Mirror software can also be used for rapid recovery from casualties. In the event there is a data corruption from a software error, user error or virus, a secondary component can be designated as the primary. The result is an instant restore from disk. Volumes can then be remounted and the application restarted with having any delay for data recovery from tape or other methods.

Additionally, the software is a powerful data migration tool. By creating mirrors, then designating the secondary component as the primary and deleting the original primary volumes, users can perform non-disruptive migration of data. This can be used to move data between legacy and new storage as well as between storage tiers for archival applications.
