Brocade Edge M3000 Storage Router

The Brocade Edge M3000 Storage Router interconnects and extends Fibre Channel and FICON data center networks across campus or across the globe, enabling flexible, cost-effective, enterprise-wide storage infrastructures that improve data availability and make business continuity achievable. The M3000 Edge Storage Router provides remote disk mirroring and SAN interconnection over IP or ATM networks, supporting enterprise or mid-size networks.

Unique features of the product include network error detection, recovery and hardware CRC checking, and network fail-over and dynamic load-balancing. The Brocade Edge M3000 Storage Router also includes hardware compression to dramatically reduce provisioning bandwidth, and buffered architecture, along with emulation and pipelining techniques.
The read and write tape pipelining capability on the Brocade Edge M3000 Storage Router enables remote tape vaulting over long distances, virtually eliminating the impact of latency on the sustainable throughput of tape backup over distance. The Brocade Edge M3000 Storage Router makes the remote tape backup system appear local to the server, enabling remote backup and recovery to occur at theoretically unlimited distances with little or no performance degradation. Brocade tape pipelining works with all industry leading tape, virtual tape, and enterprise backup software solutions.
