What is CA ADS™?

CA ADS is a powerful fourth-generation language for the development of both simple and complex high performance applications for the IBM mainframe. It is a component-based system for developing and running IDMS based applications.

What development challenges does it meet?

With fewer mainframe specialists available in the IT industry, it is essential to provide access from database administration and application development tools to enable developers to decrease time-to-market of new technology systems. CA ADS can integrate with Web interfaces to enable the migration of CA ADS application logic into SOA or Web services. This enables you to become more technologically competitive without making significant changes to the application.

What features does it offer?

CA ADS features an application compiler which serves as a design and prototyping tool, speeds development, increases application flexibility and efficiency and fosters modular design. It also features the ADS language—a rich COBOL-like language. It includes language constructs for arithmetic and assignment operations, conditional processing and flow of control, CA IDMS/DB Database access and map commands for controlling the screen I/O and more. CA ADS features full SQL, DML and DDL language and runtime support, as well as support for APPC (LU6.2) cooperative processing for creating dialogs on the mainframe that communicate peer-to-peer with other LU6.2 programs.
