High Performance and Fault-Tolerant Routers for the Enterprise
The 3Com® Router 6000 Family of routers offer flexible, feature-rich resilient routing, from the core to the edge, delivering WAN connectivity at competitive prices.

With the addition of the 3Com Router Open Services Networking (OSN) Module FIC, Linux-based applications can now be run on the Router 6000, delivering new services that can enrich business operations and opportunities.

Two models, with differing number of slots, are available:
  • Router 6080
  • Router 6040

Router 6080
The 3Com Router 6080 is a rackmount unit which comes equipped with eight Flexible Interface Card (FIC) slots that hold LAN and WAN interface cards for added flexibility in adapting the network to immediate and future business needs. The power supply and fan are already installed. For redundancy, dual software images are included, and a second power supply can be installed.

Router 6040
The Router 6040 offers the same features, but with four FIC slots.

  • Next-generation ready: MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) VPN
  • Resilience: hot-swappable interface cards, available redundant power, dual software images
  • Includes fan and one power supply; second power supply can be installed for redundancy
  • 3Com Router Processing Unit (required, purchased separately) enables routing functionality: full-featured IP and IPX routing for the enterprise
  • For enhanced graphical management with extended functionality, 3Com Router Manager, available for purchase with 3Com Network Administrator or 3Com Network Director, is recommended. For smaller networks, graphical management of the router can be done with 3Com Network Supervisor.
