An elegant and cost-saving alternative to a free-standing switch, this fiber-based 3Com® IntelliJack® switch turns an existing two-fiber multimode cable connection into four 10/100 switch ports, making fiber to the desktop extremely affordable. With this switch you can upgrade older buildings that don't have enough LAN ports or fiber connections, or meet user growth demands by easily expanding a fiber-based LAN infrastructure that supports copper-based Ethernet PC connections.

Three NJ240FX connectivity model options are offered for installation flexibility: 3CRNJ240FXLCTAA-75 has a LC fiber connection, 3CRNJ240FXSCTAA-75 has a SC fiber connection, and 3CRNJ240FXSTTAA-75 has a ST fiber connection.

The standards-based switch comes bundled with advanced switching and management features such as Quality of Service (QoS) traffic prioritization and voice over IP (VoIP) to support voice, video and data, making it ideal for connecting networked telephony. Software utilities help streamline administration tasks and boost network security. Enterprise ready, the switch can be discovered and controlled by most SNMPv3-compliant applications, such as 3Com Network Supervisor (3NS) and HP OpenView, and IPv6-compliant networks. The internal power supply allows the NJ240FX to forward power to an IEEE802.3af-compliant device plugged into Port #1.

This "in the wall" solution mounts in NEMA-standard wall cutouts, making the bandwidth and security of fiber-to-the-desktop an affordable reality. Attached by screwed-in wall mount plates, IntelliJack switches are significantly less vulnerable to theft or damage than freestanding alternatives. They install without disturbing walls, ceilings, or day-to-day operations, making them ideal for hospitals, hotels, classrooms, historical buildings, conference rooms, and cubicles.
